About Us

What kind of adversity or challenge had to deal with:

Firstly,

  • Had to stay in Muktagacha police station till 1:30 pm, the crime was cataract operation of 45 people, other eye treatment, low cost medicine and primary treatment to the villagers.
  • To avail these services, a family had to pay Tk.200 per year for card purpose, Tk.100 per month. Cataract surgeries were made free. The main purpose of primary treatment was to select the patients for cataract surgery.
  • At the same time, the responsibility for eye surgery from the government was led on to the chairman of the union council, the chairman was charging Tk. 3,000 per cataract operation patient and some villagers were selling medicines at a higher price.
  • Patients were naturally interested in treatment, medicine and cataract surgery from our organization for the same medicine at low cost and free cataract surgery.

    And secondly,

  • During 2020 Pandemic time, I had to give leave to the office employees.
  • In   20.06.2020 there was a break-in. I don't know whether it was a break-in or a conspiracy.I was mentally broken. Due to the financial crisis, the office had to be closed after paying the July salary.

The purpose of the name of the organization :

A widowed mother, with one son and one daughter, unlike any other. She spent her life thinking differently, for the welfare of the people.

It was during the British rule of 1950, she was the founder of a school, as well as a teacher. Naturally, at that time and age, there was no shortage of conspiracies against her. So, after having to change locations twice, the school is currently situated in its third.

The troublesome state of life was like water and salt. She was not a woman to give up. I couldn't even tell if Grandma was in trouble.

After everything was said and done,  the organization built by my grandmother's own hard work was named after another person, right in front of her.

The real founder was present, my grandmother Helena Akhtar, "Helena".
The old woman, a stroke patient, had a gentle smile on her face after the inauguration ribbon was cut.

But I couldn't smile that day, the year was 1993. Grandma never had a shortage of respect.

When we were returning home, I asked Grandma if she was feeling bad, but I couldn't tell if she heard me,

Grandma said. "You see how beautiful the school is,
Fans in every class, students will not miss school."

That day I told myself that the name that did not find a place here as a symbol of benevolence, I will spread the name all over the world.

I didn't know how I would do it then, but it happened, "Helena."

Founder and executive talk :

I have been working locally since 2002. The first undertaking was the Fishery Project, which employed a few locally.
Through that, I realized the importance of my vocation. I figured that by working locally we can benefit people plenty, and bring about social change.

For such social work, the economic side is very important. I used to fund my projects on my own. For that reason, many in my family used to call me crazy.

However, when cataract surgery was performed on 45 people at Muktagacha Field in Mymensingh funded by Sight Sever, I truly felt appreciated for my work.
When the patients of the operation used to say "You are an angel", and they wanted to see me, I felt ecstatic and got immeasurable peace of mind. Many years have passed, walking amongst good and evil.

I had to face many obstacles in my work, starting from my own home, relatives. I didn't get the support of the people in my committee, everyone wanted some form of profit, there seemed to be no feeling of humanity in the people, I got the opportunity to see the true nature of many people from up close.

I began to understand the adversity, just as I found in the biography of our Honorable Prime Minister. I cannot begin to imagine how she could do it in face of so much adversity. No prime minister in the world had to go through such trouble. May Allah bless her mental and physical well-being and good life. I am not saying that because she is in power, she, regardless, is personally worthy of praise.

Honorable Prime Minister of our government, she is my inspiration. She is a very brave woman, I am very motivated by her life. I salute her, we as a country and a nation are indebted to her. She could have easily chosen a comfortable life, given the identity and position she had, she would never have lacked respect or money. Patriotism has forced her to leave everything behind.

This institution is named after my grandmother. She was a widowed mother of one son and one daughter. She was the founder of a school in 1950 and a school teacher for 65 years.
Whenever I encountered obstacles along the way, I always used to wonder how much hardship she had to face. I had the opportunity to see it up close, I spent a lot of time with her at school.
Grandma often used to say one thing, "Aim with courage".
This has helped me along my journey.

If we all want great feats, regardless of it being on a big or small scale, if we all work with benevolent thoughts for everyone, the progress of the country and the nation is possible. Even if we cannot enjoy the results presently, our future generations will get the benefits.
Altruism must start from every family,

If we individually can't think selflessly and do good for each other, how can we expect anything positive for ourselves and our future generations? We should all engage in natural and social activities.

No task is easy or difficult. If you do it honestly and patiently, if you don't give up, success will come. That is my belief.
